Loving Pitbull Mom Literally Can’t Hold Back Tears After Being Separated From Pups

After being separated from her babies, mother Pitbull can't stop crying at the shelter.

Pitbull mom can’t hold back tears after being separated from pups

When Cinnamon, a sweet red-nosed Pitbull, found herself at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control shelter in North Carolina, her world had turned upside down.

This poor mama dog had been separated from her puppies, and her sad eyes told a story that would soon touch thousands of hearts.

One Saturday, shelter volunteer Sarah Jennings Sleime was making her usual rounds when she spotted something that made her heart skip a beat.

There was Cinnamon, sitting in her kennel in an almost human-like posture, looking absolutely heartbroken.

“I walked the kennels, and a pit bull caught my eye… she was sitting up, kind of slumped-over, almost human-like,” Sarah shared on Instagram

But what really tugged at Sarah’s heartstrings were the tears welling up in Cinnamon’s eyes every time someone spoke to her.

A Mama’s Painful Past

The shelter staff had a hunch that Cinnamon had recently given birth and had probably been used for breeding over and over again.

Sarah told The Dodo, “They believe she was confined and used as a breeding machine. She’s obviously had many, many litters.”

Poor Cinnamon was clearly missing her puppies and feeling lost in her new surroundings.

The Power of Social Media

Moved by Cinnamon’s sad situation, Sarah did something that would change everything – she recorded a video of the tearful pup and shared it on Facebook.

Within just 48 hours, it had been viewed over a million times and shared by 20,000 people!

Sarah’s inbox was soon overflowing with messages from people eager to give Cinnamon a loving home.

Among those touched by the video was Meghan Connor Shelton from Charlotte, North Carolina.

“I have a special place in my heart for pit bulls,” Meghan told The Dodo.

“I think they’re a very misunderstood dog and a misunderstood breed. And when I saw her in that video, literally crying in a cage, I cried. My kids cried.”

A New Beginning

The very next morning, the Sheltons were first in line to meet Cinnamon. “It was love at first sight. She just kind of pulled at our heartstrings,” Meghan gushed.

They quickly filled out the adoption paperwork, and as soon as Cinnamon – now renamed Rosie – was spayed, they brought her home.

Rosie’s new family already had another dog – a 3-year-old Pitbull male named Blu. They were a bit worried about how the two would get along, but Rosie surprised everyone with her gentle nature.

“It was interesting because you never know how it’s going to go, but they just kind of sat next to each other with tails wagging,” Meghan recalled. Looks like Rosie and Blu were destined to be besties!

Rosie’s Personality Blossoms

As Rosie settled into her new home, her true personality started to shine through. The family discovered one of her most adorable quirks – she snorts like a pig when she’s excited!

But Rosie’s story didn’t just change her life – it had a domino effect throughout the shelter.

Sarah noted, “Small acts have a big impact. Not only was this sweet dog, Cinnamon, adopted the next morning, but other families who came to adopt her saved other dogs at the shelter, freeing up kennels for strays and owner surrenders waiting in the back who would have certainly been euthanized as the shelter is full.”

Make Them Matter

Rosie’s journey from heartbreak to happiness is a powerful reminder of how one small act of kindness can create a huge ripple effect.

Her story inspired not just one adoption, but many, proving that sometimes all it takes is a moment of compassion to change a life – or many lives – forever.
